Michael Pellerin, founder and CEO of Pellerin Multimedia, Inc. (PMI), is an award-winning DVD producer and filmmaker. He and his PMI team have produced more than 100 hours of behind-the-scenes documentaries for DVDs and earned numerous honors, including The DVD Academy’s “Best Disc of the Year” three years in a row for the Collector’s Editions of The Lord of the Rings, produced for New Line Cinema.

For the past five years, PMI, a Los Angeles- and New Zealand-based company, has worked with Academy Award-winning director Peter Jackson on all of his films, producing all the behind-the-scenes material for The Rings trilogy and, most recently, Universal’s King Kong.

On Kong, Jackson specifically brought Pellerin and his team in to produce the full spectrum of video materials – behind-the-scenes documentaries, television specials, promos, marketing spots, internet content and the DVD. The Oscar-winning director also elicited Pellerin’s help on a unique bonus feature for the Warner Bros. DVD re-release of the original 1933 King Kong – the famous “Lost Spider Pit” sequence. Jackson and Pellerin co-produced and directed a re-creation of this missing scene using exactly the same stop-motion cameras, techniques, period miniatures and props as the original filmmakers.

While PMI’s roots are in DVD production, the company has evolved into a creative multimedia one-stop shop for original programming and entertainment marketing for DVDs, EPKs, Internet, Television, Trailers, and more. PMI’s team of accomplished producers and editors has created projects that range from promotional in-theater campaigns for Cinemedia and VW, to television specials and marketing campaigns, to groundbreaking internet content, such as Peter Jackson’s “Production Diaries” – a grassroots internet promotional campaign for King Kong. The Diaries, a revolutionary idea realized by Jackson and Pellerin, gave fans weekly access to behind-the-scenes action throughout Kong’s two-year production, highlighting unique and never-before-seen-aspects of the filmmaking process.

Besides Pellerin’s impressive body of work with Peter Jackson, he has created award- winning DVD special editions of many of Disney's modern classics: Fantasia, Tron, Atlantis, Dinosaur, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame - and produced segments for the Tribute to Monty Python Special for HBO.

Pellerin also has collaborated on DVDs with well-known directors such as M. Night Shyamalan on The Sixth Sense, Tim Burton on The Nightmare Before Christmas and John Lasseter on Toy Story and A Bug’s Life.

His credits also encompass supplementary material for the home video and laserdisc releases of Walt Disney's classic masterpieces Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, as well as The Three Caballeros and Alice in Wonderland.

Several of Pellerin’s previous works have been acknowledged with the coveted "Best Disc of the Year" award, and two of his titles were chosen for the "Ten Best Discs of All Time" list in recent Ultimate DVD Magazine consumer polls.
